How much does SEO copywriting cost, and what do you actually get?

Hiring a copywriter should not feel like guesswork. If you want SEO copy that works, it helps to know what it costs and what you get. This short guide gives you a clear, honest answer, no vague packages, no surprises.
If you are going to invest, you want to know what you are paying for
Good SEO copy can help your site rank, convert, and sound like a brand people trust. But what does that actually cost? And what do you get for your money?
Let us clear that up, but without the jargon, the upselling, or the vague promises.
First: what goes into SEO copywriting?
When I write SEO copy, you are not just paying for ‘words on a page.’ You are investing in a thoughtful, researched, and strategic process that usually includes:
- Keyword research: Based on your goals and audience, not just what has high volume
- Structure planning: Headings, hierarchy, and user flow — Google loves clarity, and so do readers
- Tone of voice: Tailored to your brand. Whether you want warm, sharp, or no-nonsense, I adapt accordingly
- Writing and editing: Clean, crisp, precise copy with every sentence doing a job
- SEO fundamentals: Meta titles, descriptions, alt text suggestions, internal link ideas
- Final delivery: In your preferred format, ready for upload or design
This is not something I outsource, rush, or run through a tool. It is done by me, and it is done well.
What do other copywriters charge, and what do you get?
Copywriting rates range from €25 to €150 per hour, or from €100 to over €1000 per page. Some offer low flat rates — often using templates, generic phrasing, or AI tools. High-end copywriters may offer strategic insight, but that does not always guarantee a strong voice or human feel.
Cheap copy is often fast and forgettable. Expensive copy is not always better — especially if it sounds clever but says very little.
I aim for copy that is sharp, clear, and actually says something. Every sentence earns its place. Every word works for you.
So, how much do I charge?
I charge €40 per hour, and most SEO copywriting projects fall between:
2.5 and 7.5 hours per page
(That is €100 to €300 per page, on average.)
The time depends on:
- Length: A short landing page takes less time than a detailed service page
- Research depth: Topics that require technical or industry-specific research take longer
- Input quality: If you already have a clear brief, structure, or source materials, I work faster
- Language scope: Writing in English only takes less time than preparing a bilingual version
- Volume: If I am writing several pages at once, I can work more efficiently, and that benefits you too
Before I start, you get a clear time estimate and a breakdown of what is included. I track my time carefully and share a summary with every invoice, so you always know exactly what you are paying for.
What do you actually get?
Apart from high-quality SEO copy, you get:
- A thinking partner, not just a writer
- Clear timelines, so you are never left guessing
- Revisions built into the process — not as an afterthought
- Advice where it helps, silence where it suits you better
No hidden fees. No vague deliverables. Just a clear process that works.
And if you are not sure you need it?
That is fair. Not everyone needs a full rewrite. I am happy to take a look at what you already have and tell you honestly whether SEO copywriting is likely to make a difference.
Sometimes a tweak will do. Sometimes a rethink is worth it. Either way, you will get an answer, not a pitch.
