SEO content

After working on SEO content you will have a perfect website which is fully optimised to tickle the search engines in all the right places. With the basics firmly in place, all you can do is wait until the efforts start to pay off. Or is it?

After an SEO content writer has completed optimising your pages, perfecting your content and responding to the search engine algorithms, you will see the results of their efforts in a few months’ time. Sometimes it can take as much as half a year until your pages start ranking. During this time you can sit and wait for the magic to happen, or you can decide to be pro-active and contribute to the efforts the copywriter has made. Once your SEO content is in order, you are one step closer to good online visibility, but SEO work is never done. There is still a lot you can do to give your rankings a boost and ensure the best performance for your pages.

SEO content and technical SEO are always first

SEO consists of a number of methods which all have one goal: to improve your rankings in the SERPs and thus increase online visibility. There is a right way and a wrong way to go about it. Technical SEO is first in line and includes improving your page speed, removing error messages, installing a security certificate and creating good structure. Through technical SEO the base of your website is perfected and this ensures the visitor the best possible on-page experience.

Secondly, a specialist will work on SEO content. As the name suggests, these are all the changes that take place on your pages. The programme used for improving your content for SEO is your content management system en includes tasks like keyword research and -implementation, rewriting- and restructuring texts, adding internal- and external links, composing the metadata and adding alt-texts to your images. After an SEO specialist completes working on the technical SEO and SEO content of your pages, you will have a perfect website which is fully optimised to tickle the search engines in all the right places. That is why these are the areas that are usually tackled first. With the basics firmly in place, all you can do is wait until the efforts start to pay off. Or is it?

3 SEO tasks to work on once your content is optimised

If you want the best possible results and a fast increase in visitors to your pages, the last thing you should do is sit back and relax. You can use the fact that your pages are perfect to your advantage by doing your own bit to attract more traffic to them. There are many ways in which you can also make a difference and enhance your rankings even before the results of the SEO specialist become visible. I give you three examples.

1.       Linkbuilding

Good SEO content means link-worthy content. Your pages invite other website owners to link to them and every time that is done, you get a backlink. The more backlinks you have, the better your rankings will be. Google looks at a backlink as a reference on a CV or a vote in an election. It shows that you are an authority in your niche and that is rewarded. Linkbuilding is something that pays off and it is also something that you can work on yourself. By actively chasing high quality backlinks you can really make a difference and there are several ways to do that:

  • Write a guest article (with a link) for a blogger in your area.
  • Work on broken linkbuilding by offering website owners new material for their broken link.
  • Work together with other websites and apply ABC linkbuilding.
  • Use an SEO tool to find out which pages already mention your brand, product, service or company and contact them to ask for a link.
  • Write your own blog with unique and current articles others will want to link to.

2.       Start a blog or a news page

A blog is not only useful if you want to attract backlinks. By regularly adding an article, you show the search engines that your page is active, current and very much alive. Blogging is part of SEO content and you can ask a content writer to write the articles for you. Of course full attention would be paid to the SEO content rules and every article would be optimised for the search engines to find it and rank it high. Search engines like blogs, not only because it shows them that your website is regularly updated. It is also a sign of user-friendliness, as you are providing your visitors with important- and interesting information. Whilst you wait for the results of the SEO content writer to show, writing a new article every week will really boost them.

3.       Advertising

With perfect pages you can start attracting and converting more visitors. A good position in the SERPs is not the only way to achieve that. Many website owners decide to start one or more Search Engine Advertising campaigns, to advertise on social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube etc.) or to use platforms such as Amazon and Google Shopping to promote their products. When you are advertising online, you are using landing pages. These are the pages you want your potential customers to visit through a link in the ad. Because your SEO content is in order, you should have several good landing pages to send them to and impress them with.

Advertising is something that can be outsourced, but programmes such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads and Amazon Advertising make it a relatively easy task to do yourself. SEO and advertising usually go hand in hand and are used in tandem to increase visitors and profits. With SEO you attract organic traffic and with advertising you attract paid traffic. It is key to find a balance between the two and to maximise the interest in your company, brand, products or services.

SEO work never stops

Technical SEO and SEO content are activities that are subject to constant change. What is hot today could be penalised tomorrow. Search engines regularly change their algorithms and SEO methods change with them. That is why, if you want to own and retain a successful website, you have to keep working on SEO and to keep analysing and updating to stay ahead of your competitors. Life after SEO content is far from over. It is only the base of what needs to be done for achieving online visibility and long-lasting success.
